Project description

I designed and managed this study, carried out by Professor Nancy Law from the University of Hong Kong, as part of the Up-Scaling Creative Classrooms in Europe  project.  Four cases of ICT-enabled learning innovation from Asia were analysed in-depth (desk research, case reports, consultation with education stakeholders from Europe and Asia, and expert interviews): e-Learning Pilot Scheme in Hong Kong SAR; Knowledge Construction with Technology (CoREF) in Japan; Third Masterplan for ICT in Education (mp3) in Singapore; and Digital Textbook project in South Korea. The cases covered aspects such as the context, scale and nature of innovation; the intended learning outcomes; the role of technology; and implementation strategies. The results of the Asian cases along three cases from Europe (eTwinning, 1:1 Learning in Europe and Hellerup School in Denmark) were presented in this report, including necessary conditions for sustainability, scalability and impact at system level. The report brought evidence to the debate about the mainstreaming of ICT-enabled innovation for learning in Europe and beyond.
